Hawk Roosting – Part 2 – Edited

Predator:
I conquered high over the forest, with the gentle breeze gliding through my feathers. I look around at my surroundings, embracing its beauty. I lay still, like rock. My body was in a deep sleep, but as always I was alert and ready. For some this is just a dream, a goal. For me this is a reality. I was reminiscing over my previous attacks, but also the future outbreak I was prepared for.
As well as myself, my offspring need feeding. Watching them grown is not only breathtaking, but in my eyes art. They are delicate, innocent, future killers. The idea of of them evolving into what I am, astonishes me. When unattended, I hear the soft screech, each cry has an individual meaning, from hungry to desperation of comfort and guidance.
The height at which I perch is an advantage.
The soft breeze and warming sun compliment my attack. The sky lights single out my victims; my view is so dominant, it is as if the world and everything in it has its vision on me. Now I am in control.
Day time is far different to the night, creatures will confidently live in peace without a worry, but in the darkness, the deadliest of creatures will stay low in the shadows, to avoid conflict. Prey do not expect death in the open.
I can feel the bark in my grasp, my nails pierced into the branch.
The fresh smell of nature moves within the atmosphere.
Every detail has been adapted in evolution, everything created before me has led up to this. My claws appear hand crafted too precision. Its beauty is overwhelming. I am an extraordinary freak of nature. My claws have such power, such anger and aggressiveness within them.
I take the innocent enemy from it’s safety. I decide where I kill my prey. It is mine.  It is my choice.
I do not feel guilty. Its just a part of nature, anything more powerful would do the same to me.
My common individuality, ripping body parts from each other. I watch the blood pour down the oak tree slowly. Such a beautiful sight to me. This is death, everyone comes to an end sooner or later, i guarantee nothing will stop me, the death of this is my goal.
Prey:
Again, I stay low to the ground, with the occasional gentle breeze, it reminds me of the outer world. There’s nothing around to embrace or even admire.
I spend most of my days hidden with my family. I hide away in the holes of the ground, it’s the only place where I can assure myself I will stay alive. When the hawks escaped the panorama of my vision, I occasionally leave to access food for my family, those are my most dangerous moments.
I look far into the distance, trying to focus on my opponent, but the sun blinds my eyes. You would of expected me to be killed in the night at my weakest point, when i am most venerable? I myself have witnessed murders before, its routine for him but a tragedy for us. This is how things will stay. No changes will be made.

Legalising Marijuana – Part 2

Are you aware that by the time I finish this speech almost 100 people will have died as a result of alcohol abuse, worldwide? In America alone 88000 people died as a result of alcohol in 2013. In comparison between 1999 and 2007 there were only 26 deaths, in which Marijuana was identified as an underlying cause.
If these statistics are correct then it would imply that either marijuana is safer that alcohol or 27000 times the amount of Americans abuse alcohol as opposed to marijuana.
Does this seem accurate? Can I get a show of hands comparison between number of alcohol users number of marijuana users?
I am here to talk about the legalisation of weed and hopefully point you in the direction of being for this plant.
I am going to start off by talking about the bad side of it, it is a known fact that heavy marijuana users have been known to have a lower IQ and in some cases, depression and psychosis; but note my use of the word heavy.
Now with the positives…
Marijuana helps elevate the pain for people with chronic health conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, many of these sufferers would rather smoke a natural plant than take pharmaceutical drugs.
How can something like alcohol be legal when it costs the NHS such a large amount of money when it comes to alcohol abuse?
Let me put you in a scenario, imagine that there are two worlds, one world where a person is stressed from daily life routines, where they can get a specified amount of safe cannabis from a dispenser to help elevate the stresses, or the world we live in now, where people going through these issues have to travel to a street corner dealer, where they pick up skunk, full of toxins and dangerous chemicals, that could trigger problems such as depression or psychosis. Which world would you rather live in?
In the state of Arizona the government provides a specified amount of the plant to help the patients deal with the day to day stresses of living in pain, in the meantime the government could and should be using the money they have saved on not making new medication on exploring other ways of finding cures for the illnesses. Also in 2014, Colorado made over $1bn from their marijuana dispenser clinics. More money within the government, is more money for extra healthcare and facilities.
One reason I support weed is because, sounds and visions are enhanced in a way unlike no other. For instants, when listening to music, you are able to hear certain instruments and notes that you are unable to pick up on when not intoxicated; but this is just what I’ve heard.
Smoking for most people, will make them feel more social and confident, the other bonus, when smoking with friends, is surroundings take on a comical ambiance.
Most groups will bond over laughter and sharing jokes, laughing on marijuana simply intensifies the high.
If you have ever been to a Marijuana legalisation protest, you will see that everyone around is peacefully smoking, minding there own business, yet the Government and the Daily Mail still portray them as ”Scruffy Stoners”
Across the world, gangs have street wars and people are regularly murdered over financial difficulties due to drugs. Its like a food chain, you have the ‘’boss’’ at the top, who distributes his weed to his various dealers, often the lower skilled workers, at the bottom of this chain, are usually more into the drugs than the money and end up smoking it themselves.
I sympathise with police forces across the world  fighting drug crime; it’s a never ending war.
To conclude, marijuana is perceived as a sinful, however scientific reasons have proven that, the intake of of the plant is far better then any form of tobacco and alcohol.

Bare Vexed – Part 2

Dear Isabelle Kerr,

I am writing to you in addition to your article ‘Twerking, selfie and unlike? Young people don’t speak like that – I should know’. When I read this article I agreed with every individual point that you made. Being a 16 year old boy in a Secondary School, I am constantly around slang and from a personal point of view I can clarify that like fashion trends or in this case slang, the terms come and go.

Us as a youth, do not want to be remembered as the generation which were known to twerk and take selfies. We want to be remembered for intelligence not the motion of girls hips. It’s things like this that make older generations portray us as, like you said ‘Yobs’ with the dialect of idiots.

Being around slang constantly, where it gets used every few word,  I have seen terms evaporate from our generations speech. I personally don’t remember the last time I heard someone being called ”Butters.”  Twerking and selfie came from America and transferred to the UK, they are not even widely used here, so why have they been put in to the Oxford English Dictionary?

One point that I also want to raise is, why haven’t swear words been a new addition to the Dictionary? Not only are the more widely used across the world, but they have stayed in trends, at least for as long as i can remember.

I’d Like to thank you again for raising the awareness and stating the issue of this matter.

From yours sincerely,

Akira Lasharie Sato
